Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain what Smartflow does in daily work.
  • Navigate the main areas of the platform.
  • Identify the standard workflow from upload to export.

Prerequisites

  • Active Smartflow account.
  • Basic understanding of loan document review.
  • No prior Smartflow experience required.

Concepts

Smartflow workflowโ€‹

Smartflow follows one practical flow: upload document, run extraction, review and verify fields, approve, then export.

Example: A new credit agreement is uploaded in the morning, verified before noon, and exported the same day.

Confidence score and provenanceโ€‹

Confidence score helps you prioritize review. Provenance lets you trace each value back to source text.

Example: A pricing field marked low confidence is checked against the highlighted margin clause before approval.

HITL reviewโ€‹

HITL means human-in-the-loop review. You confirm machine outputs before finalizing data.

Example: Reviewer corrects an incorrect date and marks the field verified.

Walkthrough

  1. Open Smartflow home page. Expected outcome: You can see sections for documents, extraction review, covenant monitoring, and Q&A.

  2. Open the document list and inspect status badges. Expected outcome: You can distinguish uploaded, processing, ready for review, and approved states.

  3. Open a sample processed document. Expected outcome: You can view extracted sections and field-level details.

  4. Open one field and check provenance. Expected outcome: Source text is highlighted in the viewer.

  5. Return to dashboard and open covenant panel. Expected outcome: You can see compliant, warning, breach, and unknown status indicators.

Practice exercise

Scenario: You are assigned your first onboarding package and need to explain platform flow to a teammate.

Task: Write a five-step summary of the Smartflow workflow and point to where confidence score and provenance are used.

Success criteria:

  • Includes all core workflow stages.
